9.25 (very good) | This was an outstanding series that I watched in two days. Disappointed that it wasn't a longer series, but hey what can you do. Girls, guns, good action, good plots (compared to many other series), Voice acting was great (except for when they attempted to speak English, had to play those parts over a few times to figure out what they said), translation was awesome (normally insults and such tend to get translated poorly and loose impact, but not in this case), the art was great, not perfect, but when is anything perfect? I highly recommend this one. | ||

9.00 (very good) | Got this one recently because I liked the manga so much, (and got a raise from work). It was excellent. I really liked the battle between L and Light, and still liked the battle between M and Light, but not as much. Not much action, but when there is, they do it well. The characters are well developed and its plot has that feel that if either character makes a mistake, it's over kind of feel. It also maintained the what's going to happen next feel, even when I had read the manga. | ||

Great story, that somehow using (in my opinion) overused and cliche plot paths, made a movie that I thoroughly enjoyed (I did not notice anything cliche about it till I started writing this). Loved the artwork, voice acting was superb, and the plot had a magical touch to it (although now that I'm looking back on it, it did have some loopholes). A lighthearted movie with a more serious side. Sophie is a wonderful character, and by far my favorite in this film. | ||

8.75 (very good) | I have seen all of the first season and liked it (and own it), and I have also just finished the Brotherhood season. The movie was also decent. I liked the first season, never got bored although parts were easy to predict. Good mix of action and comedy. The Brotherhood season is awesome. I can easily predict what's going to happen because I have read the manga, but the manga has an awesome story line (it's currently my favorite manga), this the animation is also awesome. Would recommend to most people. | ||

I also could not predict what was going to happen next which made that season outstanding. I will re-watch that season soon. The other two seasons would probably be ranked a 7 for decent plot but becoming more predictable. | ||

8.75 (very good) | Best opening I have ever seen for any series (Girls on Film by Duran Duran). I watched the opening song for every episode (usually I watch the opening once, and skip over it after I have seen it to get to the show faster). Opening song matches the anime perfectly. Plot is actually fairly strong, considering it sounded really weak on the back cover. I liked this plot and it wasn't a plot easily equated to another series. It does have some cheesy romance things to it, however it was done tastefully, and integrates well with the plot (unlike many romance anime integrate their 'romantic' parts into their general plot). I initially started watching this series, looking for something ecchi and read the part of "He tries to photograph the club's "goddess,"..." (Wikipedia), stopped there and decided to watch it. I watched the series and quickly found out that it wasn't ecchi (however there are a few ecchi parts intermingled throughout, but find a series that doesn't have that), but didn't need to be. I think this is a really good series (it didn't let me down) that has somehow been forgotten. I highly recommend for an overall good series, that most anime watchers should at least enjoy. It is a sophisticated series (which I have found puts off many simplistic anime watchers, and younger audiences), and the uniqueness of the plot may put some people out of their anime comfort zone, however those people are somehow immune to the law of diminishing returns, such that they can watch the same plot/story lines over and over without getting bored of it. Maybe I will write a review for this series. | ||

8.75 (very good) | So I pulled an all-nighter to watch this. I like the character designs, I liked the plot, and the sound good, however the last show seemed stupid compared to the other 11. I almost docked the rating because of that show, so I'm pretending my rating does not include the last show. Things I didn't like, are the fact that they never actually resolved the plot, the last episode in whole, and how short the series was (it had a strong enough plot that they could have made a least a 24 episode series, possibly more), and the abandonment of all previous character development of Kaede to make her bipolar psychopath (I liked her better before, but the bipolar psychopath thing adds another level to the plot, that could make the story better if they would have finished it). Things I liked are the plot (but where's the rest of it?), the fanservice (and/or cute character designs), and the voice acting was really good. | ||

Update: Recently came across season 2 and season '1.5' I guess (It technically came out after season 2, but contains events from between season 1 and 2, and I recommend watching it before season 2) Again, this was awesome, just like the first series. Bumping score from 8.5 to 8.75. Left some plot strings loose at the end, but I was kinda expecting that it would. Pulled an all nighter for this one as well and regretted it later in the day. | ||

Currently on ep 400. Have already read the manga so I hope it continues to stay with that. It is an awesome anime, and
the manga is also awesome. The only setback I am currently having with it is that they do a long previous episode
flashback (like 1/4 to 1/3 of the show, so docking it some for that) at the beginning of the episodes where there will
be a continuation of a battle. I am amazed that I'm so far and not completely bored with it (got bored once around
episode 250 or so, don't quite remember as that was months ago, and took a 3-4 month hiatus from watching), even
when I already know what's going to happen. One of my highly recommended series to watch, but maybe not all in one
go (that's a lot of episodes to watch). Update: Finished with ep 471. Will take another hiatus from watching One Piece (this time mandatory, as I'm all caught up with the releases) and give it some time to get some more shows under it's belt. | ||

Just finished the 8th episode and wow... it's a messed up show. I'm not sure what's going on, and every
time I want to sort it out the show changes. I kinda want to know what's going on, like why does the story seem to
restart and change? Currently rated a 5 as I just started this anime, but it's score will probably increase
(especially because it's pretty unpredictable, and the animation style isn't bad). Update: finished the 22nd episode and it's still a messed up show. This show was nothing like what I expected. I'm catching on to what's happening, and this show is surprisingly good at building suspense. It's more of a bunch of mini series with the same characters and and the murders that involve the characters, but it's not always the same character(s) that die(s). I'm still trying to figure out if it's the same 2 stories, just told from a different character's perspective, with massive amounts of continuity check failures, or if some of the stories are just really similar. Bumping score way up, because it's good and messed up. Update: finished this series, but heard rumors of sequel, so looking for that (and this website has a nasty habit of lumping sequels, even if they have a different name, under one title, so Not marking complete till I find definitive info on a sequel). I would tell you everything I figured out, but they end up being some decently major plot spoilers, and are more for discussion between people who have already seen it. | ||

Well, ok, I could ask for more, and I will, so I'm trying to find more Lupin III stuff. Update: Found Lupin III season 1 and 2. Watched season 1 and am halfway through season 2, it's not as good as the movie, but it is still a good anime. The graphics aren't as awesome as the much more recent anime, but it was made before I was born, so it's still good. | ||

Good plot, strong character development, and good mix of seriousness and comedy. Also they did a nice job treading the line of predictability and unexpected things happening, such that it kept you on your toes but still had the "happy ending" feel good quality to it. | ||

This brings back memories of waking up at 6 am on Saturday morning, to watch the weekend cartoons. Such a great show
(mostly for the nostalgic feeling). I sing along to the theme song just like I used to. Currently 22 episodes into the
first season. There are a lot of puns, to the point that I've counted at least 4 in every episode, and some
episodes will get into the double digits in the same scene. I tried watching the first episode in English and Japanese
w/ English subs... Will definitely watch this one in English just for the nostalgia factor. Also I didn't notice
this the first time around (watching it on Saturday mornings), but Ash is a prick (And Gary is even more of a prick). Update: Finished the first season, and the First movie. I'm surprised how weak the Pokemon in the Pokemon League are... not as spectacular as I was hoping. Now onto Season II (and a not so scratched to hell and back DVD of the second movie). Update: Season 2 Done. Pretty good, but the new theme song is no where near as good as the original. Otherwise, it's a very consistent series in terms of enjoyability. Update: Finished season 3, and why are we less than half way through the Johto League? New theme song is still crappy. Still an enjoyable series. Ash is much less of a prick, and Team Rocket is awesome. I sometimes wish I could voice James. Update: Finished season 4 and Mewtwo Returns (Ok, but like the first movie, doesn't fit in between any of the episodes well, like a poor side quest), but we still aren't done with the Jhoto league... (Jhoto must be a much larger place than Indigo). Theme song got better, but still not as good as the first season's theme song. Team Rocket is still some of the best characters. | ||

8.00 (good) | Months ago I had watched up until ***PLOT SPOILER*** a major character dies (for now unnamed so that you watch the series to find out who) ***END PLOT SPOILER*** and figured it would just go downhill from there so I promptly stopped watching to save myself the disappointment. I recently (in my lame effort to finish watching unfinished series) decided I'd get this one over with. It turns out that although there were a few not so awesome shows it picked itself back up quite nicely and with the exception of episode 16 (which is a complete flashback episode and can be safely skipped without loosing any dignity) was quite enjoyable. The artwork is unique or original (there's no confusing what series the artwork is from), and the sound was good (no annoying voices, synchronization issues or poorly equalized mixing to note). | ||

7.75 (good) | Watched the first 130 episodes (ending with The Disappearing Weather Girl, so if you couldn't tell it was the FUNimation dub). English dub... pisses me off, I liked the Japanese names better from the manga. I did not appreciate the discontinuities FUNimation added (like changing city names [in an attempt at having Americanized names {so that punk little American kids wouldn't know that this is an anime instead of a cartoon}], or having the characters say something completely different than what was presented on the screen) Overall it's pretty good, with plot being it's obvious strong point. Sometimes the clues that link who the murderer is are not really incriminating enough to declare that person x was the murderer, but they always have that guilty person self break-down and confession at the end. Not enough Heji and Kid , which makes me sad. In the manga I always liked the chapters with Heiji and/or Kid the Phantom Thief a lot more than the normal chapters, so I wish they'd get moving on that. They don't need to do a murder (or attempted murder) every time, and also moving the plot concerning the Black Organization every once in a while would be cool. | ||

7.50 (good) | My roommate happens to own this (the Disney release) amongst her mostly sci-fi movies collection (the only 'cartoon' [as she called it] she owns). I watched it and it was really good. I could see myself watching it several times in a day if I was 8 again. The artwork was well done the sound was good except for the crying, which is by default, really annoying. Plot was definitely something for the younger audience, however Disney's translation for the subs was, well they didn't do a very good job (which surprised me, as Disney usually is the closest you can get to perfect for animated films). I know enough Japanese to know that 'Itadakimasu' is said before a meal to give thanks to the person who made the food, and not 'it looks delicious', as well as other translation mistakes That I could catch, however they still get the gist of the story across. Also the subs were a bit high, they could have been much closer to the bottom, however that might have something to do with the program I used to play it (used WMP instead of the program I usually use) | ||

I have seen the first two episodes, so not much room for commenting here (also reason for the 5), but this series has
potential for fanservice, a potentially good, but overused, storyline of zombies (also known as 'Them' in this
series), and some decent character development (at least from my current standing of 2 episodes in). It can also fail
miserably, given the overused storyline, so we'll see how they do. Update: Finished the series. It wasn't bad, but wasn't amazing. It has a lot of fanservice (of course the manga, or what I've read of it does too) and so that was helping it. It didn't try to actually finish the series, which is nice, because it's not awkward at the beginning of a second series, and can just pick up where they left off on the first. Zombies is just not my cup o' tea for a plotline, so I wasn't expecting an incredibly amazing plot. | ||

Some funny parts, but I guess I'm definitely a fan the one long continuous plot rather than the every episode or so is a complete subplot that is started and resolved in the episode (which is what this is). It gets a 7, as it's a bit childish (especially the first season), however I thoroughly enjoy the manga. The second season does a better job following the manga and just seemed that the production staff started caring. Also the first closing song for the second season, "Honjitsu, Mankai Watashi Iro!", is amazing and my second favorite opening/closing for an anime (first being the opening for Speed Grapher, "Girls On Film") | ||

I wished that my favorite character would have gotten more screen time, but she was just a side character so what can you do? Some more side stories would have also been nice as the characters were decently well developed and side plots for each one would have completed the character development package. 7.00 (above average) | I have seen both Mezzo Forte and Mezzo DSA (Danger Service Agency), the TV squeal series to the 2 part movie of Mezzo Forte. It's not bad, but I can't help but remember the destructible environment in Red Faction, in that concrete walls are easily destroyed by a mere kick from Mikura (at least in Red Faction it took the Hammer of Thor or a vehicle ramming into the building to be destroyed) DSA was much better than Forte, as in DSA would probably be ranked a 7.25 and forte would probably get a 6, which in my somewhat logarithmic anime ranking scale is a somewhat big difference. | ||
